On Sunday, 9 November 2025, Walker Crips Investment Management’s Business Development Manager - and former England Rugby Union international - Joe Simpson swapped his business suit for a rugby kit to take part in the 745 Game, a special charity match at Kingsholm Stadium, home of Gloucester Rugby.
The 745 Game was founded from a heartfelt WhatsApp exchange between rugby legends Rob Burrow and Ed Slater, both of whom faced the challenge of Motor Neurone Disease (“MND”). The event unites the rugby communities of both Union and League in a shared mission: to raise funds, awareness and hope in the fight against MND.
Despite the rain-soaked conditions, the evening was charged with passion, camaraderie and purpose. Joe, who played on the Union side, delivered a standout performance - making a crucial try-saving tackle and setting up a memorable try with a skilful cross-field run.
More importantly, the match has already raised over £100,000 to support MND research and care initiatives, including the recently opened Rob Burrow MND Centre, which has provided new hope for those living with the disease and their families.
